Brush with greatness. | My father was a carpenter from Arkansas, across the river from Tennessee. Around 1954-5 he was hired to work on a big construction site in Memphis with with many people he didn't know. This included a young truck driver who had recorded a couple of songs that became local hits. Now, dad was a fan of good old-fashioned country/western music & didn't care much for this new noisy rock-and-roll stuff.
