Which is it? Is the statistics "untrue" or "meaningless"? I know it's true, I pay no taxes. I'm in such a low tax bracket I get everything they deducted back at the end of the year, plus EIC and additional child credits.
What this meme is saying is that there are plenty of people like me who think it is right to demand "the rich" pay more so that I get back even more, if not a a direct refund, then in the form of various assistance programs.
What is "meaningless" is the phrase "raising taxes on the rich". What most people don't understand is that the " tax rate" (the percentage the rich are supposed to be taxed) is actually higher than on "the poor". "The Rich" however are more heavily involved in economic activity that the government wished to reward (such as investing in green energy, or devolping facilities and jobs in low income areas). These rewards are not always applied as intended, but in ways that are still legal.
If you want people to pay their "fair share" don't "raise taxes", simplify the tax code. That means no green energy credits or job creation credits for large businesses, and no EIC or additional child credits for me.

I agree. The purpose of the progressive tax is not to be "fair", but rather to create a class system where there was none. It moves power and money from the private sector to the government sector. It prevents rich people from failing down and poor people from moving up. People like Warren Buffet cry about the rich being taxed more while getting billions in tax breaks in "financial reform" legislation. Flat tax = fair tax.

Walmart creates people that need government handouts. In fact corporations like walmart get way more corporate welfare than people get social welfare.

Walmart announced a while back, that 10k people would be losing their jobs due to stores closing. Yesterday, they announced they would be increasing their minimum wage to 10 an hour. Walmart likes to tell it's associated that you can't discuss your wages with other associates, but that's a violation of the NLRA. Not mention how walmart tries to keep workers from unionizing.

No I'm not kidding you there is a 5 year LIFETIME max for welfare. Not sure what state you are in but in NJ I don't think the average welfare recipient is living too "high on the hog" unless they are supplementing their income in other ways. Some websites compare welfare payments with "hourly rate" and it looks crazy. Welfare has ALOT of fraud. Democrats, however, resist any attempt to add some accountability to the system. Also "welfare" is a broad term that refers to many different programs, so I'm not sure which program you are referring to when you say "welfare" has a five year limit. Many programs, which supposedly have limits go through minor changes, get renamed and considered a new program, restarting the clock.
