Celebrating Charlie Kirk‘s death was bullshit. So is live streaming a public execution like the Saudis and North Koreans tend to do. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

It is a huge deterrent if people see it with their own eyes

Tbh I don’t think anyone will be deterred. There are two kinds of people: Normal people and terrorists. Normal people don’t need to watch a video of an execution to know that terrorism is bad. Terrorists will be held back by barely anything, and live streaming an execution will do nothing but scar a bunch of people and make America look barbaric, kind of like a lot of Middle Eastern governments.

Never knew that the Bible says „thou shalt hold a public execution like it‘s the f**king 1600s“

Helps if you read it.
Genesis 9:5-6
5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.
6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

Exodus 21:12-14
12 He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.
13 And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.
14 But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.
Leviticus 24:17
17 And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.

Numbers 35:16-19, 30-31 (excerpt)
16 And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
17 And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
18 Or if he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
19 The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.
30 Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.
31 Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.

While we as Christians are not under mosaic law, its still the "model" of government set up by God.

That tells about death penalties, which I somewhat agree with. Doesn’t tell shit about public executions though.

Do you have the verses that say executions must be private?
3 ups, 3w
Well if everyone in the village picks up a stone and throws it at the person, I assume they aren't doing it blind folded.

Sorry for the late reply, I didn’t see the comment, hope you don’t mind. Anyways:
Neither is there a verse that says that executions must be private, nor is there a verse that justifies public executions. Therefore, the Bible is a useless moral compass in this scenario. Therefore, we need to refer to another moral compass. And no matter if you refer to utilitarianism, deontology, human dignity, or basic empathy, they all tell you that the public execution is wrong.

Sounds like Trump found his moral compass since he nixed the live broadcast.

And do you support his decision or not? Not taking sides for now, just wondering.

“And do you support his decision”
Yes, but then I never, planned to watch the execution in the first place so it really doesn’t matter to me.

Dude even if you don’t like someone, don’t wish death on them. That makes you just as bad as them.

The reason we make light of his death is because this is the exact shit that he advocated for.

The remarks come from the February 15, 2024 episode of his ThoughtCrime panel show (with Jack Posobiec, Tyler Bowyer, and Blake Neff). The discussion was about capital punishment, especially for pedophiles and other heinous offenders.
Mediamatters
Key verified portions (from transcripts and contemporaneous reporting by Media Matters, Newsweek, and Snopes):
“It should be public, it should be quick, it should be televised.”
“You could have like ‘Brought to you by Coca Cola’ and no, I’m not kidding. By the way, I would totally tune in to see some pedo get their head chopped off. Convicted by a jury of their peers.”
“I think at a certain age it’s an initiation.”
He said of a specific case (a man who killed a pregnant woman and her three children) that he wanted to watch the execution because “that’ll make my day better” and it would be “justice.”
On tone: “But it should also be taken in a holy way. Now, I don’t mean holy in a bad way, I mean that, like, this is heavy.”
He did not say children should be required to watch, did not call public guillotine executions “holy,” and did not frame sponsorship as “so American, so patriotic.”

listen I don't think anyone should be killed. but Charlie thought people needed to die so that Americans could own guns. so if someone has to die it shouldn't be the people who are against gun in the first place, it should be the people who think some people have to die.

I wasn't dancing when Charlie kirk died. I think shooting people for their disagreements is wrong in general.
3 ups, 3w
If the nation sponsors and encourages its citizens to watch literal gore via livestream, that's a VERY big difference than Charlie Kirk getting slimed out by some lunatic.
Y'all getting desensitized to authoritarianism by interpreting everything as a spectacle, so go enjoy your slop I guess

You think the government executed him?
3 ups, 3w
No. A Demorhhoid executed him. One employed by a corporation with ties to BlackRock. The Mafia executes people. Lone murderers execute people. It's not limited to just governments as any number of criminology textbooks and true crime books attest.

. . . by the penal system.

I fixed it for you.
