So the solution was obviously saturate the Market with apartment complexes subsidized by yours truly to line the pockets of developers and investors? . Bunch of crap if you ask me.

'build their own affordable houses'
In your mind somehow turns into
'apartment complexes built by developers and investors'

Hahaha. Which state is that? No state does not allow for owner builders.

It's the Midwest way. We need all those illegals for pig farming and chicken processing.

What does pig farming with an individual building on their own lot?

Just because you live in an area thay has been owned by generations of farming families, does it mean you have the right to land ownership.

Go find a lot that is for sale and build your dream.

Naw it has everything to do with the states govoners business , you can't find a lot under 200k what use to be 10 k and you can't find anyone to do concrete under 200 a square yard. So your use to be house to finish fo 85k takes 85k just in foundation work. . And by the time it's built you looking at the average home sales price or more 400k + even a new trailer home is 250 with the foundation work and state permits. Anyone can buy and do anything if they have money.

There is a 300ft by 300 ft lot less than a block from my office, for $78k. City services.

Concrete is cheap down here. Sorry its cost so much to build in your state.

Still no laws banning owner building, though right? Ok, good.

No law, but its financially impossible.

Law on taxing and banning foreign business. Which is a good thing. But because the taxes are so out of control they could assess a carriage house from 1930 as a property worth 500k, just to squeeze 18k a year in property taxes. You have a chicken coop, well now it's a tax burden worth 85k, for your flock of 12 chickens. And depending on the school district they'll try to raise the tax 3% every year on assessed values so they can squeeze another football field out of their hoedey toadie school district that can't seem to get a grip on the actual value of money and is too busy using tax payer funds to pay insider companies they have ties to to make a profit. Just like profiting off school lunches, sports and preforming art events.
