No, all but very few came out here out of greed. Simple basic greed. Even the ones we see crossing the border with nothing but a backpack, walking through the desert. They paid thousands of dollars to get there. They didn't come running as they were getting shot at. They left Grandma behind. Most of them are young men. They came here to make money, pure and simple. And that goes for Europe also, which if anything has an even higher proportion of young men going over.
And the thing is those that really are in danger aren't the ones who escaped, because they're the ones who got shot at. The ones left behind are the poorest and most vulnerable, and that doesn't get any better as the ones who are more capable of fighting back and improving situations depart because they think they're going to live in a mansion in Beverly Hills that is made out of gold bricks.
