I'm serious, is their paralysis a condition from retardation? I honestly have never heard of such a medical condition unless a mentally handicapped person was injured, for example in a car wreck, or they were impaired from birth. I understand paralysis is caused by a number of conditions. And I'm serious when I said "Don't we all." I've got handicapped people in my family, everyone does.
I'm not making fun of anyone but the hyper-sensitive people who demand changes to the use of well defined words. If I want to slow how fast paint dries to prevent crazing, I add a retardant. I've worked in hazardous sites where we were required to wear fire retardant clothing. To retard weed growth with remedial measures is not a slur. But word police make our language into assumed offensive slurs and degrade our language to the point no one can communicate clearly. If I use the proper terminology to communicate clearly, people gasp and scold me for saying retard, that's on them. Everything is offensive. Yes there are slurs, but you know what? When I grew up we were taught, sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me. People need a little thicker skin. Liberals threw out the expression Trumptards to be derogatory and insulting, then squeal if the same treatment is applied to them, sorry, but not real sorry.
