MTV went through that a few decades ago. Eventually they quit playing music and started playing crappy reality shows.

Requiring an ID to visit porn sites is no scarier than requiring an ID to buy alcohol or cigarettes, and those things aren't perfect but they also aren't an invasion of privacy or even a major hassel. Calm down, coomers

Yeah, that's not what's happening. They are authorizing third party sites to verify your age, so its another vector for your information to leak to hackers. If a hacker gets your info then does a bunch of online crime using your credentials, you go to jail. They aren't just targeting porn either. The plan is all of social media and then the entire internet.

Here's a thing. In the early 2000s or so an Internet domain for porn(.xxx) was proposed. It would put any and all Internet porn into the domain and away from the other domains. Internet browsers would have a 'kill switch' with would block the whole porn domain. . .it was a simple plan that everyone from the porn industry to concerned parents agreed to. . .EXCEPT. . .idiots and the greasy wheel and what not and the plan got shot down.

As a teen I can tell you from what I’ve heard and what parents and educators have told us porn sites are highly unstable and crawling either viruses so putting your id is like walking into a pit of needles. So putting id on that is terrible jsut get parents to ban the sites on the kids phones

That's why they use third part sites to verify and also like anything some of them are reputable in the sense that they don't allow content with viruses.

One is where you show an id to a vendor that will look at it to verify its you and in a physical manner meaning its not saved to any comoany system. The second is where you show a company your face and details and id and have thag saved onto servers that given standards these days are easily hacked and leaked thus endangering you to things like fraud and identity theft much more easily.
