It would have been better if he made it so you can't be arrested for burning ANY flag.

Getting arrested for burning an LGBT flag for example should not be deemed a hate crime while libs burning American and Israeli flags get constitutional protection

I don't want any flag burning to be criminalized either, I do agree it's hypocritical of the left to scream hate crime over lgbt flags being burned or tire marks on a rainbow crosswalk but are ok with any other flag being burned. I believe one should be free to burn lgbt flags as they are free to burn America and Israel flags.

One exception I would make would be the destruction of a flag belonging to someone else. That would be wrong under any circumstance.

That would count as destruction of other people's property in general, not specifically flag desecration.

My point is to basically leave other folks' property alone. Don't lower a flag off somebody's pole and burn it, don't steal other peoples' signs or MAGA hats or whatever, just don't steal.

Yeah, you make a good point. Flags that are worn out from normal wear and tear do need to be disposed of, Trump's new law could affect that and wrongfully criminalize a person just for disposing of their worn out flag. Trump's new law doesn't only apply to burning but any sort of desecration. If one's flag is damaged from being out in a rain storm then it could wrongfully get one criminalized.

I didn't say that, you're putting words in my mouth. I believe in never criminalizing free speech including saying racial slurs. I am just saying it's hypocritical of Trump supporters to be offended by flag burning but not be offended by slurs.

Democrats have no problem with 15 years in prison for burning gay pride flag — yes, that really happened.

The guy who burned a pride flag stole it from a church and burned it, stealing and vandalizing property is an actual crime but I do think 15 years in prison is way too much, pedophiles get lesser sentences. I don't think one should even be in prison for 15 years for stealing an innocent old lady's purse.
