Of course -which is totally irrelevant to the matter of whether or not the recent summit was a political win for Trump. It wasn't.
But it *was* an political optics coup for Putin. Frankly, Trump got worked like the international political mechanics dunce he's repeatedly shown himself to be. And that's the continuing problem; he apparently believes his own hype, assumes infallibility, overestimates his ability to sway people and is exceptionally vulnerable to flattery which makes for an easy mark to an experienced politician. Case and point: how many times has he announced a "deal" with Putin concerning pause/dialing back of hostilities in Ukraine only to have some new round of missiles, airtstrikes or troop incursion within hours?
No, Putin played him again, walked away without making any concessions or even landing on a ceasefire, successfully portrayed himself as alpha to Trump's beta, while they both served up vague, sunshine-y assertions of "a productive meeting," "progress" and an alleged agreement 'twixt lguny sans Ukrainian representation (rendering any potential agreements which don't involve carving up Ukraine if Russia wins the war illegitimate at best) to maybe, possibly have another summit in the future.
