It's not Auschwitz. At all. Please stop comparing it to that.

Trump may be a lunatic. But it's quite disgusting and tasteless to compare this to Auschwitz. Where over 1 million people were systematically murdered. It's not even close.

If Trump starts genuinely acting like Hitler, then the eyes of the whole whole world will be on him. But so far, no one has been killed, to my knowledge.

So comparing his detention center in the Florida swamp (no matter how inhumane it may be) to Auschwitz remains offensive to everyone who lost family there, which was a literal death camp where over 1 million people were murdered in a systematic way.

If Trump starts a similar program, then yes, we need to be on the lookout.

So far, he has not killed anyone that I am aware of.

If he actually starts killing people en masse, then we will need to take action.

Send in the useless UN, or someone.

Stop comparing everyone to Hitler, ffs.

They have. I'm certainly not denying that.

I've read some pretty harrowing cases. The Trump Administration should be roundly condemned for these actions and every death in custody fully investigated and any perpetrators punished if found guilty.

Look, so far, no one has died at the so-called Alligator Alcatraz. That's why I agree with you that it's a tacky comparison and an insult to survivors of the Holocaust and their families.

If people start getting murdered en masse, then we will have to have revise our description.

I'm not saying Trump's administration is not capable of such atrocities (although personally I actually don't think he really is aiming for that, and despite being crazy, I genuinely don't think he's aiming for something similar). I'm saying we're not there yet. I really don't think Trump is aiming for that. He may be a lunatic. But he's not a genocidal maniac.

Do you think the genocide that happened during the Holocaust was 100% up and running the first day? And that Nazi officials didn't have strategy meetings working up to the final solution? Do you think they didn't start actually killing people until the camps became crowded? Educate yourself.

No, you're right. It didn't happen overnight. That's why I think we need to always be vigilant to spot the early warning signs of fascism or human rights abuses, of which I agree there already are. I obviously don't want to naively wait until people are getting murdered before drawing comparisons. But I still don't think it's helpful to compare Trump's (or Obama's, for that matter) detention centers with the Nazis towards the end of their atrocities.

I think this center is a moral outrage and should be shut down. Or at least heavily modified to meet basic standards of decency (if that's even possible). And no one should be detained without due process.

I just don't think such an extreme analogy is helpful. As well as softening the impact of such a major historical event to the point it risks losing meaning, it could also backfire: by using such analogies, it risks trivializing both and then people switch off.

I'm sure plenty of people disagree with me though and that's of course fine. I can't exactly dare to speak on behalf of any survivors. I expect there is a wide range of opinions.

you dumb f***. Do you believe everything MSNBC or the Clown News Network tells you?! Look it up. It's AIR CONDITIONED! Not like the cages Obama was using (see image) where people lived right on top of each other, no air conditioning, and if you can see any bathroom facilities, please point them out. And at the new Alcatraz they only risk getting eaten if they escape.
