Remember as part of the SEC stock price case, when Elon tweeted "Funding secured" (which caused TSLA stock to skyrocket, but he decided not to take Tesla private), at Tesla, Elon is required to have another communication person physically post to social media. To appease Tesla shareholders, Elon has to distance himself from Trump or at least have the appearance of such.

So, in summary

Elon was buddies with Trump, then beefed with Trump, called him a pedophile, and is now apologizing for calling him a pedophile.

This either means:

1. Elon was friends with and supported a man who he knew to be a pedophile, revealed that he was a pedophile when their friendship no longer benefitted him, and is now once again okay with him being a pedophile now that they can work together again.

2. Trump was never a pedophile and Elon's first resort when they started beefing was to call him a pedophile, thus losing his credibility in anything he says since he clearly is immature enough to make bold, dangerous claims like that for petty reasons.
