He is a lifelong Republican who was a registered democrat for only eight years - from 2001 to 2009. Nice try.

He joined the reform party in 2001 and stayed there for two years, and then went to the Democrat Party for 6 yesrs as he opposed Bush and the invasion of Iraq.

It gets better, you wouldn't believe the reason why he left it. Totally not the Trump of today.

Of course it wasn't so much about who was joining the party then and the ideology as much as it just didn't make for a good political look. But still, Trump leaving at Jesse Ventura's urging because of Pat Buchanan joining and his racist posturing is kind of funny in retrospect.

If you were really from New York, you would have already known this.
Trump has been thought of as nothing but an obtrusive clown since the 1970s. 1970s. He didn't lose bigly here because he "switched parties" decades ago.

Also if you were from New York, you would know that being a Republican or Democrat is simply just something somebody put to the fill in the blank once and really couldn't care less about, other than maybe R in the hopes of getting to pay lower taxes. Up until after Trump won the first time, that is. Now party is an issue, whereas before it didn't mean diddly.

Unless maybe Upstate, I guess, because they're bored and maybe political identification means more because they have nothing better to do with their time.

The reason Trump didn’t win NY is that a glass of water or a corpse with a D behind it could win in NYC. The fact they elected AOC multiple times and voted for Joe, Carpetbagger Clinton and Kamala proved it.

You see, if you were actually from here, you would know why that's false.
NYC had two complete decades - 20 years - of Republican mayors shortly before Trump was elected.

And again, Trump didn't run as a Democrat for a reason.

I’ve never been to NYC. I’m taking what Nancy said about AOC — that a glass of water could win in her district as long as it’s a Democrat glass of water.
