If you were really from New York, you would have already known this.
Trump has been thought of as nothing but an obtrusive clown since the 1970s. 1970s. He didn't lose bigly here because he "switched parties" decades ago.
Also if you were from New York, you would know that being a Republican or Democrat is simply just something somebody put to the fill in the blank once and really couldn't care less about, other than maybe R in the hopes of getting to pay lower taxes. Up until after Trump won the first time, that is. Now party is an issue, whereas before it didn't mean diddly.
Unless maybe Upstate, I guess, because they're bored and maybe political identification means more because they have nothing better to do with their time.
