So... a president who says he doesn't know if he can uphold the constitution, and specifically Due Process, and ignores the emoulments clause (having to get Congress's permission to accept a gift), and is currently arguing in the Supreme Court that they can ignore Judicial injunctions at a national level ISN'T a threat to this country's democracy

And keep on jerking around that "emoulments" clause, as Dems have tried to for years and FAILed at achieving anything. The left needs to be aware that in the case of that jet, the gift wasn't to Trump. Of course they know, but just don't care when facts get in the way of the point you're failing to make.

The Emoluments Clause argument has never had any merit when it comes to Trump, a president who donates his salary back to the govt, and who pays for upgrades to the white house grounds out of his own pocket, etc., etc.

We all also know that Comey is an idiot. He probably thought this would gin up interest in what is no doubt the most pathetic fictional literary effort in a long time. He knew the shit storm he was starting, and must believe the 'no such thing as bad publicity' axiom.

He'll no doubt go un-charged, but since he's playing a game here, the left should just suck it up and let the Trump administration play, in return, not a game but some reality. That reality being you cannot suggest killing the POTUS and expect no consequences. If it was Biden who was threatened by an average person in the same exact way, they'd likely go to jail.

The gift wasn't to Trump? So...like the Statue of Liberty? Then he definitely needs to have the consent of congress to accept that gift. Here's the decree from Congress instructing the then President to accept it.

Did you know that Hillary Clinton, when she was Secretary of State, returned a $400 necklace that ws given to her? Do you know why? Because she didn't have the consent of Congress to accept it.

And the clause doesn't have an exception like "oh, it's okay if he's giving his salary back to the government." or "pays for upgrades to the White House grounds." You hand-waving it away is more proof you are, in fact, anti-American.

Assuming it's true (and not giving one go***amn about Comey, I won't bother to check), it's also a fact that means absolutely nothing relative to him threating Trump. Unless you have a point to make, in which case you should make it.
