The color in the image is hypothetical, but would be more in keeping with the relatives in South America, as well as wild dogs throughout the world, grey being not as common a color.
I'm all for bringing them back, but I've been suspicious of this company since I had heard about them last year. The other month they publicized two mice that they supposedly spiced in genes for woolly mammoth hair and other traits (fat development necessary for arctic living, etc). But for all we know they just spliced in Teddy Bear hamster genes.
The company released these wolves into a 2000 acre ranch whose location is secret. They're supposedly developing larger and more robust that wolves. But regardless the size, we have enough problems with ranchers and whatnot and wolves. Realistically, letting these critters go anywhere would be very problematic. And the fact is, since they are basically grey wolves, they would ultimately breed with them and become reabsorbed. However, that happened who knows what impact the genetic alterations might have.
This has nothing to do with politics whatsoever. Not sure why it's here.
