They can’t afford cigarettes after paying income taxes?

Taxing the product already has them discouraged.

I realize this isn't the point of the meme, however Tim Walz IS doing his part to help the poor that actually smoke these things.

Smokers in Minneapolis will pay some of the highest cigarette prices in the country after the City Council voted unanimously last week to impose a minimum retail price of $15 per pack to promote public health.

I wonder if he's also trying to help the poor by running a state lottery? That way one of them can become rich every week!

What they've done to poor people with the BS promise of riches is a sin.
Not to mention all the gambling "parlors" in every gas station, restaurant spare room, or closed down grocery store. (many in what are termed food dessert neighborhoods)

Supply and Demand

If taxing tobacco decreases demand for the product to be consumed by smoking,
then supply will fill the warehouse, or eventually there will be less supply needed to meet demand.

If we tax income earned by producing, then there may be a discouragement of incentive to work,
or one may work to produce more to earn the same if they are physically addicted to nicotine and need the money to acquire the supply to meet the demand of their physical vice.
