Typically chokeholds are not lethal. Daniel Penny was NOT trying to kill Jordan Neely.

As a person who has a lot of martial arts experience and know about the chokehold, it is normally NOT lethal.

It is meant to immobilize someone for a few minutes. It restricts the blood supply to the brain, it does not restrict air supply to the lungs. It incapacitates a person between 30 to 60 minutes and allows you to either get away or to get help. It rarely results in death. It is not considered lethal force.

None of that is stopping those racist organizations (that are funded by promoting America as the most racist nation on the planet) from ignoring the facts of the case and running with the story of a white man killing a black man and getting away with it. The most they say was the black guy was loud. Yeah, he was loud alright, he was loudly threatening the life of everyone on the subway.

Personally I am wondering why the D.A. didn't also charge with murder the helpful second citizen also holding down the violent nutcase. Both of them are male, both are 'helpful' Samaritans. But there may be some key difference between the two citizens that I just can't quite put my finger on, a difference that was definitive for D.A. Bragg.

If that second guy was a conservative he would be on death row.

To truly understand the chokehold, watch MMA fighter John Jones, choke out a fan. The effect is almost instantaneous, so is the recovery. Derek Chauvin did not kill George Floyd. Daniel Penny did not kill Neely.
