Capitalism built the modern world. All innovation came from capitalism. Universities can invent stuff, but they can't build it and make it available without capitalism. Department of Defence abandoned the internet. Capitalism made it useful. Capitalism created the PC and competition made computers more powerful than anyone could have imagined. Decentralized control? No. Communism is central planning and control. You are talking about a co-op. Co-ops can be efficient with less overhead. There is a wonderful co-op grocery stove/restaurant here in Wilmington, NC. I love their food.
