My grandpa was one man and still managed to build a house, raise a garden and dig a well to start and rear his family using only hand tools, hand hewn lumber, gathered rocks, and discarded/scrap building materials.
I reckon he could have lobbed ordinance at the government until people like you felt sorry enough for him that they gathered in a group to carry signs and say the government should do it for him.
Because of his level of autonomy and all.
You know what else he lacked besides money and an automobile?
Laziness and excuses.
After getting an infection from an injury received during the course of his homesteading, the man even cut off his own toe a piece at a time until the gangrene finally stopped rotting him before it got into his foot.
He did all this in between shifts at his underground mining job he walked several miles to and from, in all weather conditions, carrying a lunch bucket that contained a bottle of coffee and a couple of biscuits.
I know, I know...BFD.
I share the same sentiments when you bemoan the pitiful plight of the poor, picked on Palestinians.
