MOST AMERICANS ARE UTTERLY CLUELESS OF THE 50+ YEARS CONFLICT NOR ARE THEY INTERESTED IN LEARNING | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
this has been a multi decade pattern with the American public going back to the Vietnam war, and every consequent military conflict since.

Ukraine didn't just fall out of the sky either.

but Americans sure do like their outrage.

Can you blame people for being deceived or ignorant when the total media conglomerate is completely dominated with a particular group completely one-sided on the issue?

Nowadays it has got to do with being mostly safe and protected -- to date -- within the borders of the United States and thus able to look at foreign wars as forms of video games. In other words, the equivalent of couch potato sports fans . . . since the United States ended the draft near the end of the Vietnam War. So we have generations of people not the least bit worried about being stuffed into a uniform against their will and handed a rifle. It makes a difference in perspectives.

On the other hand the United States also has got millions of seasoned and blooded war veterans . . . and they have got an altogether different perspective on things.

Ooooooooo . . . very nice; and yes, it's about rationalization. Essentially the dots to be connected seem to go something like this:

'The Israeli military forces did something bad decades in the past and thus not only is HAMAS terrorism fully justified decades later but must also convince people that Israel is to blame for the recent attack against them; and thus Israel is wrong to retaliate in any way whatsoever since they DESERVED what happened to them'.

It makes absolutely no sense to thinking people, obviously; but it is -- sadly -- indicative of what passes for intellectualism among leftists nowadays.

The same way they defend Omar's "some people did something" statement.

I wonder if they would stand idly by and say, "it's not your fault" while Hamas killed their loved one.

I'm going to predict they would not.

Many flower power "Palestinians are just misunderstood and mistreated!" U.S. leftists were inside the region that HAMAS struck inside Israel, and survivors indicated that at least some of those leftists had an eye-opening epiphany just before their murder. Well eventual murder if they were also female.

Everyone without the same opinion as you are now confirmed stupid and unthinking. Really quite amazing considering the complexity of this situation. But boil it down to good vs evil.

It's easier for most that way.

Following your logic, how do we know the 1985 report was factual. Also, how is there a web linked reference when there was no web in 1982.

Yep . . . it was a real horror; and so let's ask WHY HAMAS and their other nation-counterpart HEZBOLA of Lebanon would continue to attack Israel after that over the decades via frequent rocket launches while knowing what an angered Israel is fully capable of doing in retaliation?

In particular why would HAMAS launch 5,000 rockets into Israel last week and then a land, sea, and air attack and then deliberately massacre Israeli men, women, and children while KNOWING what the Israeli counter measures would consist of? I mean this meme just laid that out for everyone and one presumes that the Palestinian government and their HAMAS terrorism arm know that history.

Why they did it anyway us moot at this point since everyone know that Israeli retaliation is going to be swift and brutally efficient. Possibly even some object-lesson massacres will occur along the way. This is another reason why intelligent people call war . . . hell. But now reasonable people should also ask WHY both HAMAS and the Palestinian government -- the same thing actually -- have so little collective regard for their own citizens that they would set them up for such a thing from the enraged Israelis.

In any event it's fairly obvious that the terrorists of Palestine -- the government and HAMAS -- WANT this to happen to their own people and nation; and so they are about to get their wish. So it goes.

It defies logic, because how could any end result be expected that wouldn't be counterproductive to their aims? Basically massacring innocent people just to commit suicide in return on an even greater scale.

I think it might have to do with Iran and other Islamic nations supplying HAMAS and finally saying, "We aren't going to continue pouring unlimited funding into your war chest unless you start impressing us with your willingness to use what we are giving you for war." They were backed into a corner by their arms suppliers. Meh . . . it's a hypothesis.

Much of that money also went to infrastructure, schools, hospitals, etc. Hamas isn't just a killing organization, just primarily.

Iran does seem to make a hobby of irritating everybody then wondering why everyone is irritated with them (Basic "Why is my head always firmly way up my ass, *sniff sniff*?" approach to life), but seems this making peace between Saudi Arabia and Israel was the trigger, Hamas trying to scuttle that, as if the kicking em in the shins "But what about me?" tactic would work.

1 up, 7mo,

I could say it's more along the lines of the kind of desperation which drives one to whine about others controlling their own domain (you know, that whole "my roof, my rules" thing) rather than considering or even bothering to ask why the person chooses to block comments but that would require me to engage in childish irrelevance, be party to diversionist subject-changing rather than addressing the topic of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

So, F-H... why are you trying to change the subject rather than address the fact that both Hamas and Israel is the bad guy, that Israel has been slowly decimating Palestine like a cancer for decades?

Well, if so then they are about to truly learn the meaning of . . . desperate. In fact they will end up having a whole new definition for the term. It's sad, really. Maybe it would have been better to have just gotten a better government for themselves instead. One that actually cared about their own citizens. But it's too late for them now.
1 up, 7mo
Naturally, that raises the question of what would/could the proposed "better goverment" have done to avoid current conditions? If we look to Ukraine, consider that the essential difference between it and Palestine is time scale, bombs rather than bulldozers, that what is effectively the whole world turned a blind eye to what Israel was up to for decades, that Palestine repeatedly appealed to the U.N. for relief, resolution to little or no avail, what course of action is left?
