Thats a tired old argument from the 40's. Byrd renounced his time in the kkk years, shit, decades ago. Even the NAACP had strong support for Byrd. You see even he grew as an individual over the years and learned from past mistakes. People can change.
Just because he renounced the KKK didn't mean he stopped being a racist.

Ok, you go with that. I'll go with his past 40-50 years of public service and accomplishments on record. He still didn't care much for the gays, nobody's perfect, but atleast he grew as a person on race.
