Actually, no it's not a coincidence. Because Trump wasn't the first 'non-politician' elected to the office of the President. So, it's not related at all.

I dunno of Chester Arthur counts because, technically, he was elected VP before Garfield died. So, he was an elected politician for a few months before becoming President. But he'd never held office before being the VP.
