A lot of furries have given both themselves and the fandom a horrifyingly bad image, from obsessive leftist politics and activism to the unfathomable level of porn to multiple cases of bestiality and outspoken interest in such, all wrapped in a rainbow box tied with a bow of victimhood mentality labelled it as empty hate, sometimes labelled as "they deem us unnatural."

And I say this as a furry who, like tens of thousands of others, has left the fandom because it's not about art and fun anymore. It feels like it's nothing but porn and activism, and it saddens many of us.

yeah, it sucks having what used to be a source of friends, fun and sometimes escapism in life be practically turned into a social media site. Like I said, many have left the fandom though plenty remain and just keep to their own life. But there's a lot of really cool people who are furries that just don't get any attention. If we could have the old days back we'd snatch it up in a heartbeat but sadly we're growing farther apart and sadder because it lost so much of what made it valuable to us as human beings.

The act of just straight-up having sex with animals. Like, it's one thing to fantasize about humanoid animals that look and act human, because let's be real here, at the very least you had a crush on Rouge the Bat as a kid or something, but bestiality is totally inexcusable.

A fursuit is not required by any means (and after being a mascot and looking into them myself, they need a lot of care and can be a real pain to wear, but it's fun in the moment).

The overwhelming majority of furries tho just have a character that they get drawn. It's kinda fun making your own character or persona and having it drawn in different scenarios, but that's not required either. You could just enjoy the art if you wanted to.

This is old, but in my experience, (not including justifiable hate) many members of our species (human) need something to hate and of these haters, the weak willed cowards choose a commonly hated target so they have backup. Furries are hated by many, so the hater has backup to protect them from backlash.
