You also cannot buy alcohol or lottery tickets until you are 21.

That’s different than buying lottery tickets. You can transition at a younger age and gamble you will not regret it when you are older, as so often happens.

Then you don’t really care about the kids and addressing the problem so much as furthering an agenda.

Several European countries have backed off doing surgeries and hormone therapy. The entire reason all this transitioning in adolescence is suddenly occurring is because hormone therapy in adults is not all that effective. When that failure became obvious, someone had the hair brained idea to give hormones earlier.

There is absolutely ZERO scientific evidence /studies proving early hormone therapy in adolescents and pre-adolescents achieves significant permanent results.
1 up, 2y
They’re restricting access to it, yes but not banning it completely.

There are still caveats for those who still need hormone therapy outside of gender affirming care such as intersex individuals or permission of parents or simply an age restriction.

The proposed American solution is all hormone therapy is bad. This is counterproductive and dangerous.

Yes. Your bed time is something your parent chooses because they care about you and want you to get a good nights sleep. Your gender on the other hand is something that should be personal preference. Your gender should be which ever one you feel like you are. Be yourself kid!

Right. . .look up Dr. John Money(I ain't kidding about that last name) some time. Not once did his victim ever say he felt female.

How about the hormone therapy and gender reassignment surgeries? Do parents that believe the garbage you just spit, honor the kids "gender identity" when it comes to those things?

Gender affirming care actually prevents suicide, but I’m not expecting you to care.

Mental illness is best treated, not affirmed . You don't tell a paranoid schizophrenic that there are people watching him, you don't tell a delusional individual that they actually can fly. You don't tell someone with gender dysphoria that they really are a different gender. Long term damage from this ridiculous trans agenda is going to be outrageous. More so with people that simply jumped on this band wagon for attention, like Ellen Page.

a "transkid" doesn't exist . Transkids are a figment of brain dead, hyper left wing, pedophiles .

Both time and gender are constructs of a society. The difference is that while time is relative, like gender, if you’re late for school enough time, the parent(s) can be fined for negligence.

However, if Republicans have their way, if a parent lets their child decide what pronouns they use, what clothes they wear, what toys they play with, whom they play with, or even a name… they’ll be fined for abuse.

And while I am a conservative.

My libertarian Spidey-sense just tingles when we let the government decide on what constitutes a poor parent or not.

if gender is an arbitrary creation of society, how is it possible for gender identity to be an “internal” and “inherent” sense of self? It is not possible for gender to simultaneously be an arbitrary product of culture and an inherent experience of the individual. If gender comes from the culture, how can it also be an inherent property of the individual person?

How can one feel what gender they are if gender is a social construct? Transgendered allege that they "feel" they are a different gender, how can this be if gender is a social construct?
2 ups, 2y,

That seems to be a lot of examples of anecdotal evidence. It is a hard grasp to say that innate feelings stem from social constructs.
2 ups, 2y,

its interesting though , do we have innate feelings or are we simply products of our environment. That is a discussion that we will never have an answer to.
1 up, 2y,

I just don’t see how it’s exclusive. Feelings are a manifestation of sentiment and attachment. These can be to people, places, or things. Negative interactions produce negative feelings. Positive interactions produce positive feelings.
2 ups, 2y,

innate vs social have to be exclusive because they are two opposing ideas , actually complete opposite. A person that is completely removed from society , one that never have any influence from such a society would have their own personality . which would be innate.

The nature/nurture debate doesn't get seen in this kind of starch contrast by professional scientists and hasn't been seen like this for decades.

Everyone is exposed to a society to some degree.

We’re not a hivemind based on that kind of exposure if we are.

We each think, feel, and react differently to some things but similarly to others.

Have different values, preferences, tastes, etc.

I was using a theoretical individual - if someone had 0 exposure to our society , I wonder what kind of person they would be .

I understand the concept of environment , however I believe in heredity . If you have a male and female on an island with no predetermined social contracts assigned to them, from children to adults , I believe that they would naturally move towards what we know as "typical gender " roles. As we see even in the most removed from society tribes on earth. I wanted to mention I removed a rude remark, which was not intended for you , I was using my phone and my eyes are not what they used to be. I hope it was removed prior to you reading it.

Most societies recognize more than two sexes it's only modern eugenics that's sought to erase intersex people. And because of this many societies actually still have recognized more than two genders.
0 ups, 2y
You are completely out of your element - There are only two sexes , anyone that says different is trying to bend modern medicine into some backward twisted reality.
1 up, 2y,

There is no such thing as universal typical gender roles. Culturally speaking, there is already a diversity in what is and isn’t considered feminine and masculine roles across different societies.

So while gender roles WILL likely form between these two people, that doesn’t mean they’ll be the gender roles you expect.
2 ups, 2y
by the by, an excellent discussion - I appreciate the exchange , its a debate as old as time and unfortunately like politics and religion .. it seems that this conversation is going to end up in the "do not talk about list" very soon. because it is so personal to people these days. Take care and stay safe out there.
1 up, 2y
True , but certain traits would such as the male protecting the female, the female taking care of the young and the male hunting and gathering. Of course there are always slight variations to the rule. I know they found some ancient female remains that had hunting equipment , so does that negate the idea that primarily males hunted , I don't think it does. So, I believe that certain traits would be apparent and are innate to our natural gender .

All human children develop a sense of gender around the age of 3-6 (the mayo clinic has some information on this). Even Judith butler admits there's more than just a social system at play. I wouldn't be trans if I could choose to not be trans.
0 ups, 2y
But gender is also a neurological trait. Which is why being trans isn't a choice for me. It's neurological psychological and sociological it's complex.
0 ups, 2y
Time is deeply different from gender because it's actually based on a universal constant. We have social systems of measuring time but the past is in the past.

Gender is not at all a universal constant like time
