We wouldn't have the printing press. No hospitals or even the pasteurization process for milk, maple syrup, etc. Since Newton founded/discovered the basics of physics and gravity that practically leaves out a good chunk of that science. No Boyle's Law. No modern chemistry from Lavoisier. No knowledge of electronic induction from Faraday. No understanding of what light is(wave form) from Maxwell. No knowledge of genetics from Mendel. No scientific process from Bacon. No laws of motion or calculus from Newton. No laser or maser from Townes. No discovery of the electron by Thompson. No hydraulic press or mechanical calculator from Pascal. NO COMPUTER FROM BABBAGE!

The reason why we have all this science and technology is because the discoveries were made because these people had faith in God and not in spite of God.

Your comment is just as valid as muslims claiming there wouldn't be architectural science, algebra, astronomy, soap or hygiene, anatomical science or medical drugs without islam.
As in both arguments are utter BS.
We have science DESPITE religion. May I remind you that the christian clergy has censored scientists -even to this date. Even had many executed ? EG: Giordano Bruno.

And guess where those 'christian clergy' end up. Hint - it ain't the place that doesn't have eternal pain.

IF there was a heaven it wouldn't be open to JUST those who believe with no regards to their actions on earth.

Say hello to Adolf for me okay

It is but all the chaff gets burned away and you get a new sinless body. The idea is, you aren't intending to sin in your new body like unbelievers would.
3 ups, 2y,

Here's a conundrum for you:
How would an unbeliever intend to sin, while unaware of religion ?
Hint: No religion = No sins.

I was speaking after the fact. They met God face to face, he gave them a new body and let them into heaven.

Just do a search for chaff and body. It's not rocket science.

chaff in the time the bible was written was the remainder of a plant that was not usable and you would pile it up in the field and burn it.

Yes, I get that, it's the basis of the saying "separate the wheat from the chaff".

As a non-Bible reader and as a former Marine, this is the form of chaff that I first thought of.

Gotta keep reading all of the 'saints', which is all the saved people get a new body.

Looks like I (and the rest of the planet) missed that chapter of the Bible.
Although it is true that Jesus did, being unrecognizable to those who had known him.

Phl 3:20 - For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Phl 3:21 - Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

How do you know ? Evidence ?

Most scientists mentioned say that without God they wouldn't have made those discoveries.
As we see with modern science without honesty and a lack of corruption it does not advance, it goes backwards. Without God science would not exist.

That's why we created a God that's completely opposite of our nature and one that wants us to do good instead of bad. Please think a little.

That's funny because the Christian God and Judeo God is never ascribed a skin color in the holy books.

You never saw a Voodoo Mary & Baby Jesus? The Virgin of Guadelupe? Cesar Borgio Jesus?

Oh, the Bible? Yahweh is Jewish, in addition to the graven image prohibition, stating His skin tone would be an unnecesary redundancy,,,

"You never saw a Voodoo Mary & Baby Jesus? The Virgin of Guadelupe? Cesar Borgio Jesus?"
Not in the bible. That's long after

Sorry Jesus was Israeli (before the reforming of the country). Jews were the southern half of Israel and after the exodus from Israel (the country) they intermingled with other races and cultures and their skin color changed a lot.
1 up, 2y,

Yes, as they were back then.
What part of "Semite" did you not understand?
2 ups, 2y
Semite is a broad category it means anyone from a middle eastern nation.

No, it doesn't. Semite means Semite.

2 ups, 2y
See that's my point. You have no idea what you are talking about.
1 up, 2y
Agreed, this is why you're not respected.

Perhaps sticking to facts instead of lies? There's nothing wrong with being corrected. You didn't even use the right word. It's "Israelite," not "Israeli"

Um, kinda

Jesus was Judean.
Israel had been long gone by then.
And no, their skin color didn't change a lot. They looked like Semites look today.

The god of the Bible:
Looks down on foreigners
Obsessed with controlling reproduction
Scientifically ignorant
Doesn't know the actual cause of diseases
Lashes out violently when angered
Okay with slavery
Thinks that pork and shellfish are dirty
Obsessed with war and conquest for resources

The average ancient Israelite:
Looks down on foreigners
Obsessed with controlling reproduction
Scientifically ignorant
Doesn't know the actual cause of diseases
Lashes out violently when angered
Okay with slavery
Thinks that pork and shellfish are dirty
Obsessed with war and conquest for resources

For someone that doesn't believe in something you spend a lot of time studying and discussing that thing that you don't believe in.

Yes. Because other people believe in it, and their belief influences how they treat others

Actually according to quantum physics a God is required because without the observer phenomenon the universe could not have started at the quantum level.
4 ups, 2y,
1 reply
... said no reputable physicist ever. The observer phenomenon is a desperate grasp at mingling science and religion.
I'm not saying you're wrong, because people twice as smart as me say "I Don't Know". But you won't hear anyone at CERN trying to forward this hypothesis.
What we know for certain is that we can't see particles at quantum level without poking said observed particles. And you can't observe the natural state of something you're poking at.

Thats a very layman summary, but given my limited engineer's familiarity, that's the best I can tdo for this audience.
2 ups, 2y
Nope. The observer phenomenon has been tested and retested to the point is almost a physical law. You need to look outside quantum physics for the particle/wave observer experiments.
For the universe to work properly in the beginning you had to have an observer so that the particles acted the right way. Without that nothing works.

"Without God science would not exist"

It absolutely would, because the overwhelming number of members of scientific organizations today do not believe in a personal creator God. So obviously science can exist without God
2 ups, 2y,

Sorry no. Most of science up to the last 50 years or so was done by Christians.
2 ups, 2y,

And most scientists today are not evangelical Christians, which refutes your point that science can't be done without believing in God

Have you seen modern science today? They still use radiometric dating even though it's been proven not to be accurate. We just saw the whole covid debacle. Modern science is in ruins because they don't have integrity.

No, you can radiometric date something with two or more methods and they won't agree. It simply doesn't work.
0 ups, 2y,

False as usual. Different dating methods, when used correctly, line up with each other
2 ups, 2y
Nope. You can even use the same method multiple times in the same sample and it'll give you different dates.
They've done carbon dating and uranium dating in the same sampe and gotten badly different dates and no, it was not contaminated.
Did you know you can't date anything we know the age of from other reliable sources?

The Skopes Monkey Trial is credited with birthing the Fundamentalist Movement in America.
1 up, 2y,
1 reply
The last 50 years has witnessed a dramatic decline in not just Christians proportionately in America, but even of Americans themselves in science altogether. The increasing number of names non-Western origin in the sciences, and the technological and medical industries is testmony to another reason we're so dependent on immigration.

Also, there's s bit of a difference between a fundamentalist believer and someone who is a member of a religion in name only. Look at me, for example. The label affixed to me changes per convo.
Better yet, look at people who keep referring to themselves as very religious but show great aptitude in utter ignorance of their professed faith, let alone live according to it.

Science because of being a Christian or despite it is more the question, and the number of scientists from, say, the Bible Belt or Utah isn't particularly what anyone would ever classify as exceedingly noticible.

Again, you're making mass generalizations about people of faith.

I consider myself one, but haven't gone regularly since I was 16. Yeah, I'll go to a required wedding, baptism, or funeral, but the hypocrites in the temples turn my stomach.

I don't know what all else he may or may not have been, but at the bare minimum Jesus was a teacher and his lessons are things that I try to adhere to.

I also believe that if someone wants to be an atheist, jew, muslim, buddhist, hindu, or anything else then they're welcome to it, just stop tearing each other down for no reason.
