But metaphorically those people represent us all (human beings) right now.
The ice blocks they're standing on represent the icecaps, glaciers, icebergs, and snow here on earth.
The nooses would represent global catastrophes and natural disasters.
If the earth becomes too warm, the icecaps will melt..... and we (or the vast majority of us)... will all die due to flooding and whatever other natural disasters.
I'm assuming that's the gist of what they were going for with that protest anyway.
[To be clear...... I'm pretty sure they did not actually wait around till the blocks melted and hang themselves. This was just like a scene set up to make a point. ]
