This seems, in the grand scheme of things, not a significant political story. On the other hand, it is certainly delicious catnip for right-wing homophobes and transphobes, exploiting their unconventional appearance.

It's just not comparable to an attempt to overthrow the U.S. Government. And, again: it's a charge, not a conviction. There is the possibility of a benign explanation. Whatever happened here, this seems like a case that will be dismissed or pled out. Not one that will result in high-profile trials and multiyear convictions like some of the Jan. 6 defendants (the "Mar-a-Lago martyrs" OP meme complains of).
