Democrats want more crime

A firearm is used, at least, 3.6 times more to prevent crime than to commit crime. Democrats HATE that fact. It blows a massive hole in their lame argument. The reason why I say at least 3.6 times is because a whole lot of times when people use a gun to stop crime they never report it. Most of the time just pointing a gun at a criminal makes them run away and the intended victim never reports it.

The only reason why the Democrats want to disarm America is so they can control everyone. Democrat voters don't know that, just the Democrat politicians. The Democrat voters are fed a steady diet of guns are evil and anyone who holds a gun will eventually murder someone. It defies logic and common sense because if that were the case we would all be dead by now. Our forefathers would have killed off the human race.

Chicago is an example of why Democrat leadership is a bad idea for well over one hundred years. . .one would think their population would've caught on by after WELL OVER ONE HUNDRED YEARS!

Nah... Democrats / Americans in general are just plain tired of all the shootings... I mean it's cool that the concealed carry permit guy killed the robber in that story. It's a shame that the clerk was killed by the robber. That is just 1 story. Here are a few others just from this past weekend out of Chicago:

•Saturday, a man got shot in the neck. The man, believed to be in his 40s, was dropped off about 9 p.m. at Holy Cross Hospital where he died.

•Early Sunday a man was fatally shot in the back. Police officers in the 2200 block of West Walnut Street heard gunshots about 2:40 a.m and saw someone fire at a man, then get into a gray car and drive off.

•A man was shot to death Sunday afternoon in Archer Heights on the Southwest Side. The man, 29, was shot in his arms about 4:15 p.m. in the 4800 block of South Tripp Avenue.

•Sunday night, a man was fatally shot while driving. The 49 yr old was traveling west about 10:50 p.m. in the 1900 block of West Fulton Avenue when people in two cars opened fire. He crashed into a bus stop and died.

• 2 hours later there was a drive by shooting on the west side that killed someone else.

•Two men (19 & 22) were wounded standing in the 2300 block of South Damen Avenue.

•A 12 yr old girl was shot in the neck while walking in the 8900 block of South Chicago Avenue when someone in a dark car fired at her.

•17 yr old boy was shot Saturday evening in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side. The teen was walking in the 5300 block of West Harrison Street when he was approached by someone who fired shots at about 6:30 p.m.

•15 yr old boy was wounded in a shooting Sunday evening in the 4900 block of South Indiana Avenue. He was shot in his right leg about 6 p.m., police said.

16+ other people got wounded in Chicago between 5 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday.

This also brings up another problem - 1 person being mayor of 9.6 million people. It can't work that way. Time to break up these huge cities into smaller ones. NYC has their five boroughs so it can be done.

What would that actually change though?

Guns are a double edged sword to be sure; yes, they can stop crimes, but they also can aid in them, guns are something that I believe humanity could do without, they make the process of killing easy, which took all the honor out of warfare, and made it damn near impossible to survive an attack from an assailant

not saying less violence, violence is inevitable, less deaths FROM violence.

That's also doubtful. Some of the deadliest attacks have been done without firearms. Oklahoma City bombing, 9/11, LaGuardia bombing ... Those who think that the shooters would not have done mass murder if they couldn't get ahold of the firearm are just kidding themselves about nature of evil.

How many more or fewer people would have died if they reverted to other types of murder is conjecture; but expecting the same people to not attempt murder at all due to lack of a firearm, is fantasy.

I'm not saying outlawing guns is necessarily the answer but nature of evil / deadliest attacks seems like a shaky argument at best.

Even an infant can fire a gun. However they clearly cannot make and implement a fertilizer truck bomb such as the one used in the Oklahoma City bombing however many years ago. A complete moron can commit a mass shooting though.

Seems your argument could also be used for bombs (and anything really).... Like why can't they sell bombs at Wal-Mart? If evil people can't buy bombs at Wal-Mart , they'll just get them somewhere else...and such.

you're not telling evil people anything they don't know. Any teenager can make a pipe bomb. Explosives can easily be made with items you can buy at Lowes and Target. A student that get a C in high school chemistry has enough knowledge to make certain types of explosives and incendiary devices.

Fortunately the media does not sensationalize those incidents as they do with shootings, so it is not something that happens frequently. Also the pathology of a shooter is very different than someone who would be a bomber or an arsonist. And today's narcissist psychopaths don't get the desired release without getting the attention for a body count.

people have a better chance of survival in an attack if their assailant is armed with a weapon they can block or dodge. bullets can tear through most defenses and can't be dodged

A shot from a gun will send everyone running, but many people can be stabbed before the crowd even realizes a crime is going on. We have done many training simulations with both active shooter and active stabber, and stabbers almost always have a higher body count.

The only good thing is that Hollywood and news media have not glorified too many stabbers, so we haven't seen that many incidents in the US.

We should ban vehicles for the same reason as guns.
