The FBI offered Steele in October 2016 $1 million to provide evidence of the allegations in his dossier. He was unable to provide the proof and never collected the money. Yet, at the same time in October 2016, the FBI was relying on the Steele dossier to obtain a FISA warrant against Carter Page, who was a minor Trump campaign associate.
Steele’s main source, Danchenko, was paid over $200,000 by the FBI from 2017 through 2022. His allegations, the basis for the Steele dossier, were never corroborated. Was this hush money? Or was it payment for being part of the scam?
