I love the clowns indicating that one cannot sue the continent of Africa...but then say the entire USA is responsible. This is why debating these born after 1990 and we to college for a humanities degree...they are not bright yet think they have Einstein intellect. Two worms debating makes each worm appear smart but when one qorm debates a hawk they get eaten.
I'm the hawk, kids. I'm full.

.....need to sue Africa....

.... so I'm going to put your level of knowledge at "doesn't understand continents".

And you honestly can't think of ANY liability that the buyer might take on in this?

Africa is a Continent. You want me to list the names of the ancient tribes and their kings starting with the Jeff bozos of African kings, the richest King ever who u can't name?
You really wanna go there with someone who didn't get a junior college degree in coffee pouring...

... you still can't sue a continent. A lawyer will probably explain this to you for free, to be honest with you, so don't take my work for it.

(Not sure why you assume I don't know who Mansa Musa is but he still wasn't the king of the whole continent)

Nations that were mainly owned by whom at the time?

Not to mention Protugal, having made inroads earlier than other European colonial powers, actually did capture most of the slaves they utilized or sold themselves, whereas others who came later and lacked access to widespread infrastructure and an operating system as well as men to run them, such as the Brits or Germans, ended up often losing too many of their own people to make the effort cost effective (or even a net gain), so opted to rely on locals to buy from, then selling those abroad at huge markups.

London, that capital of finance, became that through commodity markets, banking and insurance, etc, centered around and profiting off the slave trade. Literally.

Last time I checked if no seller there is no buyer.
Blaming white buyers for blacks selling blacks is like blaming 2022 Whites for centuries of blacks selling each other.
Deal with it son.

Name an illegal commodity where selling it gets you arrested but buying it doesn't.

Not saying that. But we charge misdemeanor for buying drugs and felony for selling.
So...the buyers here had no ability to do so without the seller.
Hard concept or are you just being silly?

You absolutely ARE saying that!!! That's your entire argument here!!

No. I'm saying the buyer gets far less punishment than the seller so...the buyer here owes much less than the seller.

One can't sue Africa but individual nations so why should people whose ancestors never owned slaves pay anything?

So,

1) Africa isn't a discrete nation. How does one sue a continent?

2) Do those kingdoms or tribal organizations still exist?

3) how would any Black American be able to prove exactly which of those countries/tribes were responsible for their ancestor's sale? How does one sue a tribal nation that no longer exists?

4) Ultimately, those originating tribes received a 1 time transaction fee. And it was for an individual.

5) However, the United States as a country still exists and still provably profited from Slavery. Not just from the initial sales tax collected on that original transaction, but all of the labor that individual was forced to perform for free. Then add on the transactional costs for each sale. For their children. Their children's children. Then add in the GENERATIONS of forced labor that the United States directly profited from.

Which do you think is the greater amount? Which group profited more and for longer? Who is more responsible? The supplier or the country that created the demand?

I speciallyike this one "3) how would any Black American be able to prove exactly which white people were responsible for their ancestor's slavery? How does one sue a tslaver that no longer exists?" I made some mild changes.
Now to the other ones.
1) Yes why not, sue all the countries in Africa since black people in United States expects reparations from all white people.

2) who cares. Sue them!

4) so?

5) yes United States still profits from the "new" slavery sponsored by democrats by bringing in illegals and making them work without rights for minimum wage, health care, taxes and representation. Yes supporting illegal immigrantion is supporting slavery.

The work wasn't for free. In exchange they got free room and board. However it wasn't willingly done. Which is the problem.

For instance did you know many blacks once freed stayed on the plantations and worked for room and board plus a little spending money. The only difference was they were allowed to leave at any time.

Did you also know that less than 1% of people owned slaves in the US? It was mostly rich plantation owners.

Any benefit that the US got from slavery is long since spent as we moved into the industrial revolution and started automating things that slaves would have done. For instance if the US never had slavery, we would be at the same exact point of technology and economy we are today due to the industrial revolution.

The only real point that could be made is that black people were discriminated against and that has kept them in poverty. Except when you make this point you miss that many wholly black towns and cities had rich black people in them during the times of persecution. Any remaining persecution was caused by the CIA pushing rap music and crack in the 80's. Feel free to get the CIA to pay reparations.

Okay. What you said here: "However it wasn't willingly done. Which is the problem." Is frighteningly appalling.

The conditions that the people held in slavery were horrifying. At any time they could be beaten. Whipped. Sold off to someone else. raped. forced to bear children. forced to have an abortion. Or even killed. Just because.

They were kept in overcrowded hovels. They were fed scraps and kept at near starvation.

They were literally worked to death.

They were robbed of any sense of culture. Of home. Of identity. They were deliberately kept uneducated and uninformed. If somehow they did learn how to read, and the owners found out, they were often killed.

The "problem" with slavery wasn't that they were unpaid. The problem with slavery was the entire institution. From beginning to end.

And why did they stay on the plantations after being freed?

Think about it. You don't know how to read. You don't know how to count. Where would you go? What would you do to make money to feed yourself and your family? What skills do you have to offer in trade for money? Do you know where town is from the plantation you've lived on? Do you know where the next town is? How will you get food? Water? Shelter?

And it's not like the white people around you are suddenly cool. They're still the same racists shitbags who would beat you to death as soon as look at you.

But what you do know is how to pick cotton and work a plantation.

You would have stayed too.

Then you try to write off slavery and the industry that was supported by it as this tiny little niche thing that happened, but didn't really do that much.

In 1860, there were 4 million slaves in the United States. They worked the plantations, which produced 75% of the world's cotton.

Take a moment. Think about that.

75% of the cotton used in the world was produced in the South. By slaves. IN. THE. WORLD.

The plantation owners got their work for free. They sold the cotton to the mills. The mills turned it into thread/fabric. They in turn sold it to the factories that turned it into all sorts of textiles.

In 1860, that one year, the labor of slavery produced $4 billion in revenue. The slaves saw none of that.

And that industrial revolution? The one you said would have eradicated slavery? It actually increased the demand for slave labor. Because they could process cotton so much faster, they needed more.

Which meant more plantations. Which meant more slaves.

If the South were to be considered its own country at the start of the Civil War, it would have been the 4th richest country in the world.

The industrial engine of the United States was built to handle the labor of slavery.

What you've written here is quite disturbing.

The life of a slave was an unending horror show. That you blithely write it off as "free room and board" is... hard to process.
