Before all this Marxist BS began to infiltrate this country and before all of the big government social programs we helped each other personally. Churches and/or neighborhoods got involved. People didn't want to take other people's money, they were too proud. The work ethic was very strong.

You seem to be failing to consider that each "individual" pictured in the meme actually represents groups of millions of people and they're asking the other group to help.

That's not true either. The original meme is in reference to what conservatives, especially Christians, do at the individual level. Helping the poor is a personal 1 to 1 responsibility.

The socialist way is the push all of that responsibility off on the government so that the individual doesn't have to be bothered with it.

Has the socialist way worked? The poverty rate in America before Lyndon Johnson's Great Society program was around 40%. The poverty rate ever since then has been around 40%. The welfare program has spent trillions of dollars for nothing. They haven't done one bit of good.

What has worked is when the market is freer. American poverty is the level of many nations upper middle class. Our poor have refrigerators, TV, cars, internet and computers and/or cellphones.

The impoverished in socialist nations are lucky if they have food and drinkable water.

That will never happen in a free society. In an authoritarian state everyone is poor except for the ruling elite. There is no cure for poverty and homelessness. No government program will ever end either of that. It is just a natural fact of life that some people are going to be poor and some are going to be rich and a whole lot of in between.

Every attempt ever made to force equality on society has always made everyone equally poor.

Governments are always too corrupt to do what is right. Everyone involved in running governments are all in it for themselves. That is because governments attract toxic narcissists.

So if you want to be free then you just have to accept that a certain percentage of the population will be poor. If you want a communist, socialist, fascist or Nazi government then everyone becomes poor and are forced to work to keep the ruling elites living in luxury. That is how it always has been. Before socialism it was monarchies and they typically caused the same poverty.

You keep looking at what we are living in now and thinking that is the free market. If you talk to anarchists (the real ones, not the ones who just are using anarchy to tear down the system and then bring in socialism or communism. The anarchists, the ones at the extreme far right, do not want any government at all at any time) they make a very valid point when they say you cannot have a free market and a government at the same time. While that is very much true, you can have a government committed to promoting the free market and that is what we had until the early 20th century.

When Harding and then Coolidge were president that was the last time the government was committed to promoting a free market. Because of Harding and Coolidge a stock market crash in 1919 that was every bit as bad as the one 10 years after it, didn't cause a great depression. The economy rebounded in about 18 months and that is when we had the roaring 20's. When Coolidge left office everyone had a refrigerator, a phone and a car. When Harding (who died in office) was elected only the rich had any of those items.

Hoover and FDR thought that the government should fix the economy and that is how we ended up with the Great Depression. The government has the reverse Midas touch. Everything the government touches turns to crap.

The free market has NOT gone global. The globalists are working overtime in shutting it all down with the Great Reset which directly opposes capitalism. They want a global fascism and it is happening right now. Biden was installed to make it happen in the US. That is why the economy is falling apart.

What we have been living with for the last century is corporatism, not the free market. The left caused the corporatism and the left complains about it as if it is capitalism. It is no different to leftists leaving California because of all the damage their politicians caused only to move to a new state and vote for all the same kind of idiots who destroyed California. technically if the government started actually helping the poor, it'd start to become socialist. problem is, our government chooses not to.

That's because the government is incapable of helping. Governments are extremely inefficient and extremely expensive when it comes to everything. Governments are only good at 3 things, stealing, killing and enslaving. Everything else they suck at.

All of those socialist programs take money out of the economy which in turn creates more of the problems those programs were created to solve.

All of them are. It makes absolutely no difference who's government it is. They may start off very efficient, like the US government, but soon they fill up with narcissists with the emotional maturity of a 3 year old (like our is).

The bigger the government the less efficient they are. Large corporations suffer from the same problem and the ones who are not supported by tax dollars work hard to improve their efficiency but can never be as efficient as a small business.

I do not believe anarchy will work either. There is really no solution that is tenable. The best thing we can do is return to the morals and religion of our ancestors. Religion (except for Islam) is freedom. Without it there is no morality and without morality there is no freedom. Without the those religions then corruption takes over everything.

Is it possible for atheists to be moral people? Yes but not unless they borrow their morality from religion. There is no moral standard for atheists to follow. Socialism (and it's offshoots) despises religion and morality and only wants you to do what the state tells you to do. Marx even wrote about his disdain for religion and morality. He had disdain for the family as well. Which makes me have disdain for Marx and his ideas.
