I guess Giantsquonk wants you to forget that Jan 21, 2017 the local, state, and federal police forces were at 3,000 strong and a deployed National uard force of 5,000 also in attendance. And that 200 people were arrested. And that Trump's inauguration went off without a hitch.

Certainly wasn't an organized attempt to overthrow the election and install Trump as President. Not at all.

The DC National Guard reports solely to the President of the United States. The Speaker of the House does not have the authority to decline their deployment.

In February of 2021, on Fox News, Trump claimed that prior to Jan 6th he'd authorized 10,000 National Guardsman to be at the capitol building but the Speaker rebuffed him and said no.

But I want you to take a moment and think about that.

Why would Trump make that offer?

Why would he offer such a large amount of troops BEFORE hand, if it was going to be a peaceful protest?

Why was there less security and unlocked doors and Riot gear inaccessible if it wasn't all planned in advance ?
