In Estonia, there are 1.34 murders per 100,000. The gun crime rate is so low as to render Estonia at 0.0 per 100k.
Let’s look further.
In 2015, which holds the most recent data, 45 people were killed by any means total. Exactly 0.0000000000% were killed with a firearm, according to gunpolicy.org.
That’s not to say there’s no ownership.
In 2017, which holds the nearest data to that of 2015, there were 65,000 guns in circulation for non-military purposes. There is no data for 2017 in regards to gun deaths, but it wouldn’t be too far of a stretch to say it rounds down to 0.
Estonian gun laws are NOT strict, either.
Upon earning a license under none-too-difficult testing and background checking, civilians can carry semiautomatic assault rifles, handguns, shotguns, and long guns.
Let’s learn from other countries and keep being damn free, as we always have and will be.
