Jesus during the trial - I could ask my Father for 12 legions(a legion was 12,000 people) of angels to rescue me but then how would the scriptures and prophecies be fulfilled?
Jesus didn't come to the the planet to make political statement(and the one time He did the meaning of His Words went over everyone's heads) but to fulfill prophecy and to make those who believe in Him get out of Hell.
Do know this statement is made to the agnistic who targets the conservative with the argument that Jesus never carried guns. Those agnistics never care about the context untile life got them on their knees.
Remember when Jesus told Peter to lay down his weapon after cutting off a Roman soldier’s ear and healed said soldier’s ear while telling Peter “those that live by the sword shall die by the sword” he would’ve done and said the same thing even if there were guns in his time.
Also Peter was the 'Cornerstone' of the Church. Jesus did not want the Church to be sword happy. Even at the height of the Temple, there was a 'no weapons allowed' rule. The Temple and later Church are place of prayer, not violence.
