That’s it right there. Her uterus can no longer hold a baby, so she doesn’t care. Sorry to be rude, but it’s true.
The average age of our lawmakers — and our Supreme Court — is 60+. Male or female, they all stopped having babies, indeed, decades ago. The difficult choices involved in when and how to establish a family are remote from their minds.
This begs the question: Why don’t they care about the reproductive rights of their *own* children/grandchildren? I don’t know — why don’t they care about our climate future, either? Why don’t they care about establishing a Social Security-like benefit for children that is designed to keep Americans under 18 out of poverty, the same way Social Security is designed to keep seniors out of poverty?
Lack of care, lack of compassion, lack of imagination.
Roe v. Wade’s demise can be explained by the fact we’re living in an aging and increasingly out-of-touch gerontocracy. And no, I’m not just talking Republicans. I’m talking Democrats, too — they’re not fighting as hard to keep Roe v. Wade alive as they would if Democratic lawmakers were younger.
