The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) does maintain that a mental health assessment “is needed” for people wanting to modify their bodies for reasons of gender expression. That group also recommends psychotherapy as a prerequisite for body modifications.
And these are the scientist who are most in line with trans people. Even they think you could be nuts if you want to do it.
Yeah, it’s perfectly normal to want to remove your breasts, identify as a man, call yourself a man, demand to be equal to a man, grow a beard, then get pregnant and give birth. Yep, no mental illness to see here. Move on.

Trans people can't really control whether or not they're trans.
They might end up pregnant, but they're just doing what makes them feel comfortable. You would probably do whatever would make you feel comfortable, right?
For some people, committing mass murder, or arson, or pedophilia, makes them feel comfortable. Under your scenario, because it makes them feel comfortable, it means they can’t be mentally ill.
So you’re telling us they get gender-affirming surgery after concluding no mental illness is influencing their decision? I don’t think you’re proving your point well.
Blaire White is the only one I can think of. And she’s just like Dave Rubin, LGBTQ, and gets treated brutally by fellow conservatives. I don’t get it at all.
