We have the power in America to end all these things, including addiction, the picture above are heroine addicts in the streets of LA. Mike Ehrmantraut said it best when he told Walter White in breaking bad " if you are going to do something.. make sure you do it all the way, no more half measures". America has a horrible habit of half measures, meaning we start something but we don't have the moral courage to see it through completely. Hunger is a major issue for me, when I see farmers dumping milk into sewers and burning hog bodies by the thousands in ditches to keep prices high, turns my stomach, when I see rats eating silos full of grain that is half rotten from sitting and not being used , it makes me hang my head in shame for America. The drug war could have been won , we needed to execute drug dealers, institutionalize drug addicts , and eliminate the cartels with our military. Most homeless are drug addicts and the insane, I submit that 50% of our over blown military budget be reallocated into social improvement , mental health care, mental institutions , and hospitals. This shit where we are running out of hospital beds is a joke- we are a first world country - even under a pandemic we should have excess beds and PPE. I think if we address these things, riots would be a thing of the past. Public works, building roads, pumping stations, irrigation systems, and things like that can be used to help the poor get on their feet. The solutions are really simple if we have the will to do it. but we don't.
