When and why did we ever stop running our elections like this?
"The practice of running candidates for president and vice president together evolved in the nineteenth century. Originally, electors cast votes for two candidates on the same ballot for president; the candidate who finished second place in the tabulation became vice president."
Seems like it would keep things more fair as both sides would still have their guy with at least a foot in the door, if not as president at least as VP. when you get one party in office and they nominate whoever they want as vp, they're obviously gonna nominate someone from tbeir own party who solely caters to their parties ideas with no opposition, leaving the other party and their constituents shit on and unheard
