Dr. Fauci not being able to give straight answers pretty much tells everyone the answer he's trying to wiggle out of.

Paul Rand is one of thousands of average opthamologists in US. Dr. Fauci is a leading expert on immunology that has advised five Presidents and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on e.g. HIV/AIDS and many other domestic and global health issues. Paul Rand is simply unqualified and pretty stupid man. I can't fathom Rand being leading in anything but hypocrisy. He voted against disaster relief for Louisiana, etc, until it recently hit his home state Kentucky, when he suddenly changed his mind and took the relief from Biden. Rand is truly an awful person.

I understand everything you have written except how any of it excepts Fauci from his several obligations (in a Senate Committee meeting) to respond to legitimate questions candidly, forthrightly and honestly

It seems Rand don't comprehend the field, such as the definition enhanced potential pandemic pathogens (ePPPs). Rand is also using up all of his time by repeating his allegations and interrupting Fauci, which ends with saying "there were so many things that are egregious misrepresentation here. Madam chair that i don't think i'd be able to refute all of them but just a couple of them".

I understand what you feel about Rand Paul and about Tony Fauci. I watched the questioning as well, including questions posed by other senators, and came away thinking he was not answering candidly. Apparently, he was not candid about the lab's research into gain of function

You were holding your own, imo, right up until you go off the rails with personal opinion. I'm not saying your opinion is wrong or right, but just t hat it really shouldn't be brought into a semi-serious discussion like this (again, just my $0.02 worth)
