Dr. John Gartner, psychologist, former Johns Hopkins Medical School professor, contributor to "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump."
In Salon, 2/23/24 "John Gartner on a tale of two brains: Biden's brain is aging. Trump's brain is dementing."
"In my opinion, Donald Trump is dangerously demented."
Phonemic paraphasia - the substitution of
non-words for words that sound similar, which is not normally seen until the moderate to severe stages of Alzheimer's. E.g., Beneficiaries became "benefishes;" Christmas became "Crissus;" Physical exam became "fizzle lick zam."
Tangential speech - incomprehensible, free
association word salad speech, that is all over the place, e.g. "Joe Biden is forming granting mass - thinkit;" "The late great Hannibal Lecter;" sharks, windmills, flushing toilets, etc.
Not only forgetting names, but combining people. E.g., saying Kim Jong-Un is president of Iran; saying he beat Obama (not Hillary) in 2016; refering to Obama as our current president ten times; saying Haley was Speaker of the House on J6; saying Jeb Bush invaded Iraq.)
