When you get a hot dome in one area, you get a cooler one elsewhere because of the skewed jetstream.
Also, while the Artic was supposed to have melted by 2016, save for a small section on the west coast, Antartica has been getting COLDER, with it's glaciers THICKENING! Which really sucks because as we all know, Florida should have been mostly covered by water for nearly the last 10,000 years as it normally is during interglacials. Without that cover, no more coral reefs to grow in what is now inland and thus the place continues to erode away.
