Not the same. Byrd had a barricaded door between him and Ashli and there’s no way to know for sure if she had a gun or not. I agree that stupidity cost her life though.

Except Byrd is an adult and Kyle is a teenager, both of these individuals were in two very different situations. One had a barricade between himself and angry people outside the room and the other did not.
