No, it did not, as they did not exist then.
&
No, disabled weaponry with complicated ad expensive upkeep that require highly trained military to operate isn't exactly what some illiterate goat herder can just hop in and fly.

I'm pretty sure they did exist... the CIA was supplying 'em to the Mujahideen in Afghanistan the 80's as what was basically a proxy war with Russia.

Also some of the aircraft left there was definitely not disabled because satellite images showed that several helicopters and other aircraft ended up flying to Uzbekistan to flee the country.

So long as we don't go back to fighting Afghanistan I don't think any of the stuff we left for the Afghan army should be much of a problem. I also think it would've been a real d**k move to have trained them to fight against the Taliban for 20 years using our equipment and then to just take all the equipment back with us. I don't think we could've even pretended to want the afghan army to succeed had we done that.

The Taliban formed in 1994.
The schooling that they are named after didn't even exist during the Soviet invasion and departure.

Operational weaponry was left to the Afghan army we had spent two decades building.
I highly doubt the Taliban got in and flew them to a sympathetic Uzbekistan for safe keeping.

We will be going back to Afghanistan because one thing history has taught us, we don't like seeing pictures of starving babies gracing the cover of National Geographic, and with Al Queda returning and ISIL entering, suffie to say that basically we just ook our soldiers home so they can have a nice warm meal and hot shower before going back.

Ah.. "they" meaning the Taliban. For some reason I thought you meant the missiles.

Now I think you misunderstood what I meant because I think we're basically in agreement on that..... but you seem to be saying it as if we're not. I mean I also do not think the Taliban took the aircraft and immediately fled the very country they had just taken over to leave aircraft in Uzbekistan.

Well politically I seriously doubt we'll be going back any time soon..... Idk... I mean unless he figures he's f*cked in the polls anyway so it doesn't matter. Seems more likely to me that we'll turn the ol aid faucet back on and if anything send over a couple drones to bomb them but I guess we'll see.

"Great again"?
The Taliban and that whole country is f*cked..... Afghanistan is basically collapsing under the their new "government". It's a shame the afghan president fled the country and the army didn't use the equipment we left for them to fight the Taliban.... But idk. I guess you can lead a horse to water but you can't install a democracy.

Boeing, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, and shareholders of these companies might disagree that it was for nothing........ They have made boatloads $$.

According to the Intercept, if you had Invested $10k in these companies with reinvested dividends the day GW Bush authorized war, your investment would've increased by nearly 10x!!
