If you think politics is simply about party vs. party then you have a very narrow and overly simplified view of it.

At least in this comment. Yet, you feel compelled to attack SSTTTUUTTAA not for the conservtard comment but for this one.
Personally, I don't think being a conservative or a liberal shields you against objective stupidity.
See the people who blindly voted in the last four Presidents of both of the two popular parties without any other reason than because they were liberal/Democrats or Republican/conservative.
Voting in a candidate because you objectively think one is better or the other is worse; I think, is better than simply refusing to play the game. And while I do tend to lean more conservative and therefor vote Republican, I wouldn't say EVERY Republican deserves my vote.
That is why I am registered as a Republican. To try to get some of the dipshits out of my party.
It doesn't always work, however.
Populism, one way or another, always seems to win out.
