That's not socialism. Socialism is using the government gun to take from the haves and give it to the don't haves. Jesus said to give your own wealth to the poor. Jesus said nothing about his preferred economic system - he just said how you could live a life worth living.

There are many Christians who use scripture out of context to justify unchristianly behavior. Just because they believe, or claim to believe, in Christ does not mean they are qualified to speak on theology or that they are representative of Jesus's true teachings.

But he never preached for the state to take people's money. He preached for rich people to give to the poor, but it had to be an exercise of their agency or it meant nothing

The Bible's Moses makes giving tithings law. "Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the Lord’s; it is holy to the Lord. If a man wishes to redeem some of his tithe, he shall add a fifth to it. And every tithe of herds and flocks, every tenth animal of all that pass under the herdsman’s staff, shall be holy to the Lord. One shall not differentiate between good or bad, neither shall he make a substitute for it; and if he does substitute for it, then both it and the substitute shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.” Lev. 27:30–34

And it commands that belivers give a tithe for orphans, widows, and sojourners: "At the end of every three years you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in the same year and lay it up within your towns. And the Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance with you, and the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, who are within your towns, shall come and eat and be filled, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands that you do."

2 Chron. 31:4–5 "And he commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion due to the priests and the Levites, that they might give themselves to the Law of the Lord. As soon as the command was spread abroad, the people of Israel gave in abundance the firstfruits of grain, wine, oil, honey, and of all the produce of the field. And they brought in abundantly the tithe of everything."

And tithing is to be paid to the church, not the state. Also, it isn't forced on people who didn't willingly become followers of Christ.

Jesus fulfilled all of that. Those who believe are under Grace, not Law. Yes, the Law is important (Salvation is not an excuse to keep on breaking God's Law thinking one can get away with it) but Grace is what saves.

That still does not disprove that Jesus's teachings were akin to Socialism.

God's way is not man's way. God doesn't nor has ever called 'Robbing Paul to pay Peter' good.

The Israelites chose to be there. They fled and formed that together. They didn't force any of these laws on people who didn't believe in them. Socialism does.
