Carter wasn't an idiot. He was a sharp, top-graduating Naval officer under the hardass Admiral Rickover, and he was more pro balanced budget than practically any Dem ever and most modern RINOs. And a good man: honest, taught adult Sunday School and built homes for the poor when he retired instead of getting rich on overpriced "speaking fees" like the Bushes.
