Not only to blatantly admitted providing funding from NIH to the WuHan coronavirus laboratory, but also that non-N95 masks provide little to no effect in prevention of COVID and that he frantically tried to cover up the nature of the gain-of-function research in the WuHan lab. Sen. Rand Paul has been criticizing Fauci based on the discovery of these released emails.
If you look into Fauci's research background, his main line of research when he was a researcher was related to HIV and why it is so contagious and how to make it more contagious. Fauci owns several patents for HIV treatment drugs, "IL-2", which he gets residual money from.

Don't forget how he harassed that secretary for research papers for HIV, kept them to himself for months even though it wasn't his work, and probably prevented people from getting AIDS treatment all so that he could get the HIV vaccine patents. GO look it up.

Because what really happened was Fauci championed the idea of Parallel Track Development. Where you test the drug on the people sick with the disease you're trying to treat rather than test a drug on healthy people first to see what side effects it has THEN test it on sick people.
