Blame Biden if you must, but blame first the tens of thousands of Afghan soldiers who fled their posts without firing a shot.

Biden receives his totally earned blame . . . although scum-bag level leftists ARE trying to blame Biden's utterly predictable screw up as Commander-in-Chief on Trump . . . who's been out of office for eight months.

People capable of learning from history -- which excludes all leftists, of course -- already KNEW that this could happen and therefore would have been PREPARED for it to happen . . . and thus they would have eased out of Afghanistan gradually in little stages and while testing Afghanistan control of each province as they withdrew . . . just as Trump INTENDED to do.

Leftists, however, are ALL about showy stuff and so their bright idea was to withdraw in one huge and movement filled with bragging on themselves . . . and the rest is NOW . . . history.

If Trump had won a second term and acted as you claim (big if), then his peace deal would have turned into yet another indefinite military commitment. Because “Afghanistan control of each province” was a chimera.

The speed at which Afghanistan forces melted away shows that they could not have been sustained by any amount of additional “preparation.” They needed, apparently, an indefinite commitment of professional American troops and manpower behind them. All that to only control about half the country and be on a perpetual civil war footing.

20 years to prepare for the inevitable U.S. withdrawal, and half of Afghanistan collapsed in a week. Is that surprising? Yeah, it kinda is. But even the most optimistic predictions didn’t have the government lasting more than 18 months.

I guess you are forgetting elections were held in Afghanistan.

Perhaps Afghans ought to have fought for a democratically-elected government that was at least part of the modern world and not as insanely retrograde and oppressive as the Taliban, but that government was also plenty corrupt and incompetent.

Instead the vast majority of Afghan government soldiers and police fled their posts without firing a shot after being intimidated by the Taliban or bought off with opium money or some combination of the two.

Well, their country their choice.

If only they fought as hard as we did.

Why should anybody fight for Afghanistan at all?
