democracy inaction

democracy inaction | FEB 2021: HOW DARE TED CRUZ GO ON VACATION?
Sure, the US Senate was not
in session, and he has no
authority over ERCOT,
the Legislature,
or the Rangers...
BUT HE SHOULD BE THERE! JULY 2021: THOSE DEMS! SO STRONG! SO BRAVE!
Sure, they are running away
from an active special session
to intentionally prevent the
governmental process in which
they were elected to
participate, inadvertantly
creating a Coronavirus
Superspreader Event ultimately
reaching the White House...

They're walking out on an attempt to subvert democracy. Pretty sure that's a good thing.
(No, I will not argue the point.)

Because you can't argue the point. The bill they're protesting extended early voting and polling place hours.

Shh. Of libs read the bill they will actually like what it does. The MSM can't let that happen. That's why it is never quoted.

You can't win, after all, so why try?

Now superspreader events are real?

I am more than happy to use the terms liberals understand to describe conditions they create.

Excellently explained. Well played. I understand.

I just observe, although people typically dont like being asked questions. I appreciate your civil, and straight to the point explanations. Great asset to the community. 👍

Thanks, and likewise!

Questions hone positions. They should always be welcomed.

Cowardice versus protecting voting rights.
Totally comparable.

They're protesting a bill that extended early voting and polling place hours.

It literally bans drive through and 24 hour voting, makes absentee voting harder, and prohibits local election officials from sending out mail in ballot applications.

Yes, those elements that were added (and abused) for covid have been banned.
0 ups, 3y,

No abuse, and so voting should be harder post-covid why?
0 ups, 3y,

Because the Texas legislature realized that the covid provisions were bullshit and being abused.

24 hour voting increases the cost of elections - paying election judges and poll workers for 24 hour shifts. As taxpayers - we pay for that. Depending on the size of some districts, that can triple the cost of poll workers.

And drive through voting doesn't protect the anonymity of the ballot. It's just like ballot harvesting, where the harvester can watch over the voters shoulder and correct items on their ballot.

There's a reason election judges exist within polling places - to prevent coercion and malfeasance.

They realised no such thing, mate. They're reacting to the turnout.

I live in Texas dippy - there are currently over 500 voter fraud cases pending in the courts.

If your orange conspiracy theories were true, there'd be millions.

How much manpower do you think the state AG has? Besides, each person may have committed many acts. The person is tried, not the individual act. We don't know the extent, because the cases have not yet been tried.
0 ups, 3y
We DO know the extent, you've made it the most scrutinized election in history: very little overall, nothing organised, and most of it Republican.

HAHAHA The goalpost has been moved from none to not enough.
0 ups, 3y
Nope, it's always been "not enough" because of course an election with 158 million voters is going to have a handful of bad players.

It’s almost as if leaving your constituents behind without power during the worst winter storm of your state’s history is kind of a dick move.

If I could have left the state during the winter storm, I would have. I have livestock to tend, elderly family members, and a business here in Texas.

Lucky for Ted, the US Senate was out of session and he has no responsibilities within the state.

I bet Cancun was nice....personally, I prefer Cozumel....or Cayman.....but Ted gets to choose where he goes on his time off work.
