Joe Biden worries | I FORGOT THAT I SAID YOU CAN'T DICTATE BY EXECUTIVE ORDER | image tagged in joe biden worries | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Yep. Heard that on the radio yesterday. I believe I heard it wouldn't affect anyone already in the US under DACA.
What do you know, you can't dictate by Executive Order just like Biden said. But he forgot he said that in his defense.

Yeah, the do nothing Democrat congress might have to stop investigating Jan 6 and do that immigration reform they’ve been talking about for over a decade.

Not really. It’s just an attempt to punt it back to the Supreme Court.

Before Amy Barrett, the Supreme Court ruled to uphold DACA 5-4.

Depending on how Texas presents their case and how Barrett weights in, it is entirely possible that DACA may be upheld again. What some Republicans don’t understand is the bureaucracy doesn’t simply allow Barrett alone to swing the favor to Republicans. Could she be the card they need to overturn DACA?

Maybe but the victory lap is nonetheless premature.

Barrett isn't going to swing anything for Republicans just for the sake of doing so...the SC will give DACA a fair shake.

Ah, sounded to me as if you were implying otherwise. My bad.

Not sure how you thought I was implying otherwise but I accept your apology.

The wording there would indicate only bureaucratic/legal restrictions prevent Barrett from otherwise serving as a red rubber stamp, rather than her sterling career as a judge. Mine was more clarifying that you weren't attacking her personally in that regard than actually questioning how she'd swing, which is entirely a fair matter for discussion.

It isn’t an attack on her character to say she will most likely join the previous voting block of 4, making it 5, to swing it in favor of DACA being repealed than it is to be offended when someone states water to be wet. If anything, it actually something both sides agree to be the inevitability.

Is it generalizing? Yes. Insulting? Not really. Not intentionally, I don’t think. And yes, people who think that could be wrong. We don’t know for sure how she will vote or even if one of the precious block may even defer. But that is also very unlikely.

I am mostly saying that it entirely depends on Texas. Not Barrett. As Texas has tried this kind of little stunt before in the 2020 election and the Supreme Court refused to even hear it. That also could happen again.

Oh I understand the distinction you are making. I was clarifying how my initial reading of what you wrote influenced my response.

We'll see what TX does. I'm not up to speed on DACA or its legal nuances, but I have faith the courts will do their job and fairly assess whether it's legal or not.
