Just putting a plug in for my boy President Grant; nearly achieved equal civil liberties for blacks during his time in office with the first Civil Rights Act...broke the back of the KKK at the time.
America may have been founded upon the principle of “We the People.” But…; Women did not earn the right to vote until 1920. Black Americans were denied full participation in democracy until 1965. It wasn’t that long ago, and our democracy remains a work in progress. It’s up to us to keep seeking to perfect our Union.
